1. The dimensions of our cabinets
First, you need to choose the right exterior dimensions that will fit into your space.
Our external dimensions (also called nominal) correspond to the precise space that the cabinet will take up – this allows you to take this into account when planning your layout.
For example, you can install a 36″ wide cabinet in an empty space precisely 36″ wide.
EXTERIOR DIMENSIONS:
We offer the following choices for exterior dimensions:
- Width – 18 “, 24”, 30 “, 36”, 48 “, 54” and 60 “
- Height – 24 “, 28”, 30 “, 34”, 38 “, 44” and 58 “
- Depth – 18 “, 21”, 24 “and 27”
Please note:
- Please use the outside dimensions (also called nominal) as a reference measurement.
- Not all width-depth combinations are available.
- The 44″ and 58″ heights and the 18″ width are only available as stationary cabinets.
- The height of the base (casters or moving base) is not included in the height of the cabinet.
If your cabinet has a base, add the base height to the cabinet height to get the actual cabinet height. - The work surface is not included in the height of the cabinet.
It is added above the cabinet, so its height needs to be added to the height of the cabinet, to give you the actual total height
INTERIOR DIMENSIONS:
How do you determine the space you have available for drawers or shelves that you would like to install in your cabinet?
It’s simple:
The top and bottom panels are 2″ high each.
You should therefore subtract 4″ from the total height of your cabinet to determine the available interior space.
For example, if your cabinet is 24″ high, the space available to install the drawers will be 20″.

DRAWER AND SHELF HEIGHTS:
3″, 4″, 5″, 6″, 7″, 8″, 9″, 10″, 12″ and 14″.
Please note:
- Please use the actual heights of each front as a reference measurement.
Drawer fronts should add up to the empty space in your cabinet. - Please do NOT use the inside height of the drawer.
SPACE AVAILABLE IN OUR DRAWERS AND SHELVES:
Discover the ACTUAL heights and depths available inside the drawers we offer.
They will give you the dimensions of tools or merchandise that you can store in each drawer, in order to maximize your capacity:
8 widths available :
18″, 24″, 30″, 36″, 42″, 48″, 58″, 60″
To find out the actual inside width of the drawer,
subtract 4″ from the outside width of the cabinet.
For the usable width in a drawer,
subtract 4 1/2″ from the outside width of the cabinet.
example: cabinet 30″ W ( – 4 1/2″ W) = 25 1/2″ width of space available in your drawer
4 depths available:
18″, 21″, 24″, 27″
For the actual drawer depth,
subtract 3″ from the outside depth of the cabinet
To find out the usable depth in a drawer,
subtract 3 1/2″ from the outside depth of the cabinet
example: cabinet 21″ D ( – 3 1/2″ D) = 17 1/2″ depth of available space in your drawer
Please note:
- Please use the cabinet’s external dimensions (called nominal) as a reference measurement.
- When ordering your drawers, please do NOT use the actual interior dimensions.
3. Choosing accessories to optimize your cabinet
When you have chosen the optimal size of your cabinet, and the number of drawers or shelves it contains, all that remains is to accessorize it.
ACCESSORIES FOR CABINETS AND TOOLBOXES:
We offer several types of work surfaces, casters, handles, bumpers, locking mechanisms, hanging panels, and pull-out shelves.
Remember – work surfaces and bases add 2″ each to the height of the cabinet
ACCESSORIES FOR DRAWER INTERIORS:
For optimal storage inside the drawers, you have the choice between:
dividers and partition kits, plastic boxes of various sizes, PVC mats, bit holders, cutting foams for tools, etc.
Please use the height of the drawer front to choose the size of the drawer accessories.
The useful height of the drawers is 1 inch less.
example: 5″ H drawer, ( – 1″ H) = 4″ height of available space in your drawer
Please note:
When ordering your drawers, please use the dimensions of the drawer front (called nominal) as a reference measurement.

COMPARTMENTS, DIVIDERS AND PARTITIONS:
Discover our proposals for compartmentalizing and accessorizing your Rousseau drawer here.
Calculating the dimensions of the compartments:
The dividers are 1″ thick.
To know the usable width to the side of the dividers, subtract ½ “ from the real dimension of the divider.
example : for a divider placed 5″ from one side of the drawer ( – 1/2 ” W) = 4 1/2″ width available on this side of the divider
Please note:
- Contact us if you need help with compartmentalization
- We use the outside dimensions of the cabinet (called the nominal dimension of the drawers) as a reference measurement. Please use this dimension when configuring dividers and custom dividers.
We believe that you now have a clearer understanding on the dimensions of our heavy duty R cabinets and drawers.
Using their real measurements, you can precisely choose the cabinet and drawer dimensions that will best meet your needs. Thus, you will maximize your storage space and efficiency, taking into account the size and frequency of use of your tools or goods!
